Control Engineering is at Automaticon this year and we are posting the latest news and product innovations from the largest automation trade fair in Poland. So far the hottest topics are mobile robots, laser safety sensors, and of course Big Data and Industry 4.0. I was able to meet with Keyence where I was shown the new “SZ-V” Series Safety Laser scanner. The scanner uses new technology that allows for a safety distance of 8.4 meters, which Keyence claims is the longest in the industry. The scanner also interfaces with a monitor and camera view, so that you can see the safety zone when it is violated. The unit is compact but solid, and comes with easy to use USB interfaces with a detachable display unit and PC interface and connectivity.
